Format change announced for Nürburgring RX weekend

Ahead the penultimate competitive week of the FIA World Rallycross Championship season at Barcelona, a new weekend format was announced to be in place for the next and final round of the season at Nürburgring, in Germany.

With limited daylight hours in November due to the approaching winter and a religious holiday in Germany, the organization will test a compressed format to make sure the timetable will be completed without hassles, although in the statement issued there was no clear clue of which part will be changed, if only limited by one phase.

This season a new format was introduced to give more drive time for the competitors, with the Qualifying being followed by a Progression session to set the Semifinal grids, but along with the critics from the fans, who are having a hard time grasping the new concept, it also sparked open criticism from certain drivers across the World RX ladder, with the most prominent example being from Oliver Solberg during the Höljes Euro RX1 weekend, even calling it "stupid" at the heat of the moment during a post race interview.

The Nürburgring RX will be held on 13 and 14 November, with the new format possibly being revealed during the week of the event.
