A Mercedes rallycross supercar is coming soon

What was merely a wish based from the Project CARS 2 universe is about to turn into reality, coming from Finland, as Kalliokoski Motorsport revealed their most recent project, a Mercedes A-Class RX supercar, likely to be debut in the 2021 season.

A few days ago, World RX driver Jere Kalliokoski showed in photo and video a Mercedes rallycross car, probably based in the A45 platform, as it hit the track after some dyno tests at Elmer Racing, which is the company responsible for the Rex engine that will be pushing the Mercedes supercar, and their dyno test ran with minor issues according to the company, which included a test under an FIA-approved 45 mm restrictor, which is in line with World RX regulations. The on track tests were made on Cooper Tires, and judging by the overall spec of the car, its international adventures may include at least RallyX Nordic.

Kalliokoski has been splitting his commitment between Rallicross-SM, RallyX Nordic and occasional appearances in World RX, but with the Finnish championship not being held in 2020 and the RallyX Nordic being in a quick and short season due to the COVID-19 restrictions, which limited his commitment to the Kouvola RX double-header in World RX with a private Ford Fiesta RX Supercar, advancing to the semifinals in home soil.

While the possibilities with the new car are immense in terms of what will Kalliokoski do in 2021, the program for the next season will be announced at a later date.
