Andretti will stay in ARX with the Volkswagen Beetle

Andretti Rallycross guaranteed that they will stay in the Americas Rallycross Championship for 2019, with the usual pair of Volkswagen Bettle RX machines returning as well the support from the German manufacturer.

This will be a send-off season for the reliable Beetle as Volkswagen itself will cease the production of the road car, and will end a glorious era when it was used in rallycross by Andretti Rallycross, which comes from way before the start of ARX and secured the debut 2018 title, in the hands of Scott Speed.

By the way, the 2019 season will be slightly different from the usual in their program, since Speed announced at the end of 2018 that he will drive for Subaru Rally Team USA, and with neither of Andretti’s cars having a driver, the situation of GRC, ARX and World RX event winner Tanner Foust is still unknown, though team boss Michael Andretti said that they already have their names ready to announce at any moment, though this will be left for a later date.

For those who are coming in the bar will be clearly set high as the first ARX season was a dream one for Andretti Autosport, securing two wins with Speed and two with Foust, with a difference of five points between the two and 32 from second placed Foust to the third, the Swedish driver Patrik Sandell.

Also worth note is that the 2019 season will be slightly longer and diverse than 2018, with six events occurring in North America, and although Silverstone was gone, new circuits at Gateway and Mid-Ohio add the extra spice of the unknown for all contenders.

The 2019 ARX season starts on June 8th at Mid-Ohio, and along with the Beetles, a triple Subaru program and the return of Steve Arpin are confirmed.
