FFF Racing by ACM conquers 2018 Blancpain GT Asia title

FFF Racing by ACM couldn’t have ended the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia on a higher note, as the overall win of the No. 19 Lamborghini of Dennis Lind and Martin Kodric in the Race 2 at Ningbo helped the duo to clinch the GT3 drivers and teams titles for them.

Raffaele Marciello acted quickly to put the No. 888 GruppeM Mercedes in the lead while the pair of HubAuto Corsa Ferraris was following him, with the result being more than comfortable for the No. 27 one. Further back, the No. 991 CRAFT Bamboo Porsche and the No. 8 ARN Ferrari had a contact that sent both cars out and brought the first Safety Car visit to the track.

Track clearing was quick, so the green flag came soon, and while the top-3 remained the same, the No. 19 FFF Lamborghini lost two positions and went down to eighth, making matters worse in the title fight. The top positions were pretty much settled in the first part of the race, with neither of the HubAuto Ferraris having the pace or the need to attack the No. 888 GruppeM Mercedes. It was thinking in the championship that the No. 19 FFF Lamborghini went early to the pits, so Dennis Lind could have maximum drive time to recover the lost time.

After the pit window things stayed in favor of the No. 27 but a mistake in the pit stop time added a 14.5 second stop and go penalty to it, though it wasn’t exactly completed by Jono Lester, and with the No. 27 having its penalty troubles and the No. 28 dropping in pace, the No. 19 FFF Lamborghini appeared in third, behind the No. 37 Absolute Audi, while the No. 888 was still leading.

With some persistence, Lind was able to pass Anthony Liu to go second, and to help the Danish, the No. 888 stopped on track and gave the lead to the No. 19, which stayed with the Lamborghini until the checkered flag, while the No. 81 Studie BMW took GT4 honors.

BMW Team Studie had the GT4 teams title before the Ningbo weekend, and so it was in the Am Cup with KCMG’s Naoto Takeda and Takuya Shirasaka.
