Grosset-Janin leaves GCK ahead of Lohéac RX

A shock announcement was made ahead of the World RX of France, one of the most important rounds of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, and it has to do with one of the home drivers and the home team, as Jérôme Grosset-Janin informed that he won’t see out the rest of the 2018 season in the GCK Megane R.S. RX.

The announcement came this Sunday (26) from both parts, as not only Jérôme himself but also GCK published statements about the matter. In their own ways, both parts cited that the relationship couldn’t continue, so driver and team parted ways.

Grosset-Janin leaves GCK after what can be called a brief yet satisfying return to World RX, considering the difficulties that a private team has and this being the debut year of the machine he was using. The French driver scored GCK’s only podium with a third place finish at Höljes and advanced to the semifinals three times, which positioned him in 11th in the table with 47 points, 11 points ahead of Chicherit, who sits in 13th with 36.

GCK will still make an announcement of who will fill the empty seat in the second Megane R.S. RX, and Jérôme will still see what he can come up with in the future. The Lohéac RX will be held on September 1st and 2nd, with a full grid thanks to the addition of various wildcard entries.
