MJP Racing confirms partial World RX effort

Austrian outfit MJP Racing was in the route to World RX this year, but other projects made Max Pucher and company leave the competition aside, but as a big turnaround, the team will return with double effort in selected rounds.

The car in fact was already in place as the Ford Fiesta LionRX3 was intensively in tests for a while so this part was already good, but there was a need to bring new drivers as Kevin Eriksson was going back to Olsbergs MSE and Timo Scheider leaving the World RX for ADAC GT Masters. The names that Mr. Pucher brought Andrew Jordan and Toomas Heikkinen to do the driving.

Jordan had already a link with MJP as he drove for the team last year in return to his usual participation in the British World RX round at Lydden Hill, and the 3rd place result he got in 2014 with an Olsbergs MSE Fiesta puts the BTCC racer in high regard, but with the British event now moved to Silverstone, some track learning will be needed.

Heikkinen comes from a two year spell at EKS and was released from it and replaced by Andreas Bakkerud. The 2014 World RX runner-up is also a Global Rallycross champion, and by mere coincidence his 2013 title was conquered in a Ford Fiesta ST RX fielded by Olsbergs MSE, and despite the fact that this new Fiesta has some improvements and the MJP flavor on it, it’s basically the same machine for the Finnish driver.

The partial MJP Racing campaign will feature the Silverstone RX on May 27th, the Lohéac RX on September 2nd and the Estering RX on October 14th, as the outfit is expected to be involved in the new GRC Europe championship, with more details to come.
