New content coming to rFactor 2 and a bit more

Judging by what was brought by the roadmap updates from Studio 397, the Dutch studio will not only bring a huge revolution to rFactor 2 as it steps for real in the DirectX 11 era, but also will being exciting content in terms of cars and a new track.

Some screenshots show clear improvements in the replay screen and even some overlay features that will be used during broadcasts. Also, improvements in terms of performance are coming, and although the Studio 397 staff remain quite cautious, they state that it will be a huge improvement to the current rFactor 2 condition. For the long term it was also stated that competition features that would let anyone run a complete series are being planned from the ground, with no estimated date for a release.

As to the future content, two cars and a track related to the Le Mans ladder will be released, as the Corvette C7.R GTE was teased some time ago and will be ready for an April release with an upcoming pack, while the other car is the Norma M30, the first LMP3 car to hit rFactor 2, and in fact the title will be only the second one to feature a car from the base of the LMP ladder, as the other one featuring them is Project CARS 2.

About the Corvette, although the car is present in various of the rFactor 2 opponents in the sim racing industry, this is the first time that the current spec C7.R GTE will appear in a title of the genre, and keeping it in the speculation realm, we may see this April content release being a bunch of the current Le Mans production class.

The track that was revealed in the roadmap update was no more than Sebring International Raceway, one of the most famous sportscar tracks in the United States, a test track for sportscar and IndyCar teams, becoming again a home for the FIA WEC along with the IMSA 12 Hour race held every year. Studio 397 stated that this is their first laser scanned track, and although rFactor 2 is behind in the laser scan competition, it was promised a high level of accuracy, even more than what they achieved with CAD data and other references, and to achieve their goals this release will take quite some time to be ready to race.

The final part of the statement is that the official forum will have an area for livery creators to showcase their work, as well updated templates for all the cars to simplify the creative work.
