Class system revamped in the Brazilian Endurance Series

The Dopamina Endurance Series, in both the Endurance Brasil and the regional Endurance RS competitions, will have some changes in the class system for the upcoming 2018 season, broadening the choices of vehicles in the top classes while creating a more level playing field for the competitors.

The biggest point of the changes is the acceptance of LMP3 machinery in the main class and the split of the GP1 class into P1 and GT3, while the GT4 class comes to group older and small GTs and prototypes. The GP1 had quite a bunch of entries in 2017 and with the advent of strong new cars like the MetalMoro AJR, the willingness to stay in the class for the current teams may bring P1 class grids up or down. Also, the P2 and P3 classes remain practically unchanged, but the limitation to national prototypes in P2 was lifted for 2018.

These changes also eliminate the smaller touring cars from the competition, as the Campeonato Gaucho de Super Turismo (Gaucho Super Touring Championship) comes as a more suitable alternative for them.

The class structure in Dopamina Endurance will feature the following machines, depending of engine configuration:

P1 - LMP3 and prototypes with engines above 2500 cc (or supercharged above 1350 cc);
P2 - Prototypes with engines between 1500 and 2300 cc;
P3 - Prototypes with 4 cylinder, 8 valve engines with up to 2100 cc;
GT3 - FIA GT3 cars from 2009 onwards and openly tuned JL 09 Stock Cars;
GT4 - FIA GT4, FIA GT3s older than 2008, restricted JL 09 Stock Cars, MR500 prototypes, one-make series GT cars and supercharged FIAT Linea touring cars.

The calendar for the 2018 season still has to be announced, but it’s already known that none of the four planned rounds of the Endurance RS series will be standalone, being also valid for the national series.
