Kelso MPC and Team BRM prevail at Queensland Raceway

The weather at Queensland Raceway was ready to play tricks in the GT World Challenge Australia competitors, but thankfully it behaved when it mattered the most, securing dominant performances from the No. 888 Kelso MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Brad Schumacher and Broc Feeney on Saturday, while on Sunday it was the day of the No. 268 Team BRM ACMF Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Mark Rosser and Alex Peroni.

Before the first corner in Race 1, chaos was already a thing, as the No. 7 Dayle ITM Audi and the No. 268 Team BRM Audi tangled at the line, with both spinning but the No. 7 staying where it was, which made the Safety Car join the track.

Despite the stopped car being near the pit exit, it took some time to clear the track, but once the green flag was out, the No. 888 Kelso MPC Audi ran away with the lead but the No. 1 Volante Rosso Aston Martin was on the move, quickly dispatching the No. 26 Arise Ferrari but going down a position as the attack on the No. 55 Valmont Tigani Mercedes, with Liam Talbot leaving the door open for Elliott Schutte, but once Talbot threw Schutte off the ideal line, it was an easy pass for Talbot.

The pit window did almost nothing to change the order, but the No. 1 had a drive through penalty that was detrimental for the ambitions, while the No. 181 OnlyFans MPC Audi went back to the Am Cup lead after dropping down to third in class, though Renee Gracie still had to be on the defensive due to the pressure from Darren Currie in the No. 111 111 Racing Mercedes.

In the end, the No. 888 Kelso MPC Audi never got threatened as the penalties held back the opposition. Despite the loss of ground in the overall order, Renee Gracie kept the No. 181 OnlyFans MPC Audi on top of the Am Cup, while the No. 24 KFC MPC Audi took Trophy class honors.

Race 2 had the No. 268 Team BRM Audi jumping ahead of the No. 888 Kelso MPC Audi, but Broc Feeney would have more surprises as the No. 66 Realta Tigani Mercedes took third place while Feeney nearly lost fourth place to the No. 7 Dayle ITM Audi.

With the No. 111 111 Racing Mercedes going from Am Cup contender to beached in the gravel, the Safety Car was called, but the five minutes of neutralization did nothing to change the current order. After that, the positions didn’t change during the whole first stint, but with the pit window and success penalties cleared, the No. 77 Arise Ferrari appeared in second place, but the No. 66 Realta Tigani Mercedes and the No. 7 Dayle ITM Audi were pressing hard, at least until Paul Lucchitti tried a lunge, only to overshoot the corner and take a trip to the gravel, which left Tim Miles alone to attack Stephen Wyatt, which took a few minutes to happen.

With 10 minutes to go, the No. 24 KFC MPC Audi found the gravel, which meant another Safey Car intervention and the huge gap between the No. 268 and the No. 7 going to nothing. The final five minutes could see a fierce battle, but with the No. 1 Volante Rosso Aston Martin spinning and stopping on track, the Safety Car came in again, although the No. 1’s recovery allowed two laps of green flag racing.

Miles could have tried a last minute attack on Mark Rosser, but with Liam Talbot trying to discount a lap, the No. 7 got stuck in its position and the No. 268 Team BRM Audi was able to run free to victory. The No. 181 OnlyFans MPC Audi completed the Am Cup sweep with ease, while not even the early took away the Trophy win from the No. 24 KFC MPC Audi.
