After always being a frontrunner in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, FIA Euro RX1 Championship and RallyX, JC Raceteknik took the early months of 2025 to focus in the lower steps of the RallyX ladder and rallying, but this week had the announcement of a double program that will see the team go back to supercars under their own banner in both fronts.
Unlike previous seasons, where JC Raceteknik would race with them taking care of the all-Audi lineup with maybe some assistance from EKS, they now will enter the season with two vastly different cars and with two different approaches for their entries, and while Mats Öhman is well versed in supercar machinery, Lukas Andersson decided to take the bet and step up to the supercars after years spent in Supercar Lites with the team.
Öhman is set to be the double program driver of the team, and given Andersson’s lack of mileage in supercars, Öhman will be also the reference driver of the team. It will be total change for Öhman, with the hinted change to a Kristoffersson-built Volkswagen Polo KMS 601 RX suited to his needs becoming a reality, and with the new machine he will tackle the Euro RX1 from Höljes and RallyX North from Älvsbyn. While RallyX has been in Öhman’s schedule for the whole 2024 season, he will return to Euro RX1 in what can almost be called a clean slate after his divergences with FIA that blocked his Euro RX1 participation last year due to alegged inconsistencies in his hand control system, which made JC Raceteknik pull out their two car program in support.
For Lukas Andersson, the vehicle will be the Ford Fiesta ST RX that conquered the Euro RX1 title with Anton Marklund in 2023, and unlike Öhman’s Volkswagen, Andersson’s Fiesta will have a joint effort between JC and SET Promotion, the operation behind this particular car in 2023. and although Andersson will have to get used to the extra power at disposal, he at least knows a part of the journey, with Höljes being a given and KymiRing being visited recently to compete in the RallyX North Supercar Lites.
Höljes RX and its Euro RX1 and Euro RX3 rounds will be held on 6 July.
