The 2025 Rallycross France season started on fire at Lessay-Manche, as Davy Jeanney had to go the extra mile to make sure his JMS Skoda Fabia RX could beat the tough opposition of Jean Baptiste Dubourg, Jonathan Pailler and Yury Belevskiy.
Despite having some international drivers this weekend, like Yury Belevskiy, Tamas Karai and Zoltan Koncseg, the ones who dominated the scene during que Qualifying Heats were Jean Baptiste Dubourg and Davy Jeanney, with both having the best time in two heats but with Dubourg having more consistency in those he didn’t won, which helped him prevail over an in form Jeanney.
Even if someone would judge that the Lessay circuit nature makes drivers trade paint, contact was much more present than you would see in other rallycross championships for Heats that prioritize time over position, which certainly contributed for Belevskiy to end in third while Jonathan Pailler found fourth place, while Karai and Koncseg appeared on the lower half of the table, behind Damien Meunier, David Vincent and Emmanuel Moinel.
Semifinal 1 had Vincent and Pailler doing a pincer move to close the door on Karai and Jeanney, with Vincent prevailing before the first corner but having Pailler and Karai behind, while Jeanney got out of the queue by doing a Lap 2 Joker. Vincent did the Joker on Lap 3 and covered Jeanney, so it was all about Pailler and Karai’s Joker Laps, and the late Joker was effective as both went ahead of Vincent, getting the top two positions while Jeanney got stuck in fourth.
Semifinal 2 had Dubourg and Belevskiy trading paint, and this invited Meunier to the party, with Belevskiy having the biggest loss as he dropped to third while he watched Dubourg open the gap. Dubourg and Meunier had the best pace, so they left the Joker for the final lap, which kept them in first and second while Belevskiy was third, with Koncseg getting a comfortable fourth as Eddy Benezet and Emmanuel Moinel spun on Lap 5.
In the Final, lots of contact gave the advantage to Meunier, but Dubourg, Jeanney and Pailler were still on the chase. With everybody taking the Joker early to avoid the Meunier train, he also went to the Joker on Lap 5, but this basically opened the door for Jeanney to raise hell with clean air while Meunier was holding the field, in a way that Jeanney had a comfortable gap after his Joker in the final lap, just needing to bring the Skoda Fabia RX home for the win.
