Vranckx made it double at Valkenswaard

With Viktor Vranckx appearing as the dominant force of the RallyX South weekend at Valkenswaard, he had the capacity to repeat what he did in the first event, but on Sunday (27) he actually improved his performance, as his faultless win was a result of a sharper drive that came with the mileage acquired at the Eurocircuit.

Like it was shown on Saturday, Viktor Vranckx’s Peugeot 208 WRX was the car to beat, but the bar was simply too high, he won all heats with some comfortable margin over Tommi Hallman and Ulrik Linnemann.

Vranckx was on pole for the first Semifinal but Linnemann looked like he could face off the Belgian, at least until Ottink bullied the Danish off the track on Turn 1. Vranckx was comfortable in the lead but had the Joker Lap to do, while Ottink was chased relentlessly by Oliver Eriksson with Elias Svensson right behind them, but with Linnemann closing down on him, Svensson never had the chance to threaten the top three cars, with Vranckx leading Ottink and Eriksson by a considerable margin.

Verkuringen missed the Semifinal 2 due to a fire that might have been a legacy of the roll he had in Q3, and between the five cars that stood on track, Hallman led by having a good position on the inside of Turn 1, but he had Casper Jansson and Fraser McConnell, and even with the transfer spot in hand, the Jamaican wasn’t too fancy of staying behind Jansson, but the problem is that the Swedish driver cancelled every move coming in his direction. What kept the top three in their spots for the Final was the high pace of this train, which left Olofsson without any chance to mount an attack.

The Final had the two fastest drivers of the day in the first row, but Vranckx had the clear advantage from Lap 1 while Hallman was busy dealing with Jansson and McConnell was defending his place from Eriksson between those who completed the Joker Lap. Although things got really close in the final laps, the order wasn’t changed, and especially, the winner, with Vranckx doing another commanding drive to victory.

RallyX South - Valkenswaard II results

From this point, RallyX shifts into the North league, which centers around where RallyX Nordic made its name, starting with a visit to the Biķernieku trase at Riga on 9 and 10 May. Filip Thorén and Janis Baumanis confirmed participation in the Latvian event, with Thorén staying for the RallyX North season while Baumanis might appear only in this double header.
