Two wins out of two races for the No. 120 Wright Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3R of Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer, and this is how the 2024 FANATEC GT World Challenge America started at Sonoma Raceway, with a few additions and replacements between the 13 car field seen last weekend.

The No. 91 DXDT Mercedes quickly jumped ahead to work on the pole position that was conquered and build the gap to the No. 120 Wright Porsche, but due to a stopped No. 8 Flying Lizard Aston Martin, the Safety Car was called , meaning Phillip Ellis would have to do his work all over again.

Ellis was the class of the field during his stint, building enough of a gap so Jeff Burton wouldn’t lose the lead when got inside the No. 91, but Elliott Skeer crushed the gap and eventually claimed the overall lead along with the Pro Cup lead in the No. 120 Wright Potsche, while Burton decided to concede as a multiclass battle wasn’t the best course of action, then staying with second overall but leading the Pro-Am Cup while trying to counter a charging Colin Braun who was approaching in the No. 04 Crowdstrike Mercedes.

Braun eventually found the way past Burton and escaped with the Pro-Am Cup lead, while Burton’s relief was that the battle for third in the Pro-Am Cup was raging on, with the No. 19 Esses Mercedes fighting hard to simply hold the place as Neil Verhagen was making sure the No. 38 ST Racing BMW was all over Adam Carroll’s mirrors.

The problem for Burton was that Verhagen was attacking Carroll so hard he basically pushed a four car pack into Burton’s direction, so once the No. 38 passed the No. 19, it did the same with the No. 91 and brought the No. 29 Turner BMW along.

Ahead of the melee for the Pro-Am Cup podium, the No. 120 Wright Porsche didn’t see opposition until the finish, and so did the No. 04 Crowdstrike Mercedes to conquer the Pro-Am Cup.

The No. 120 Wright Porsche started the Race 2 on pole position, and Elliott Skeer kept the top position with some advantage to the No. 04 Crowdstrike Mercedes, and even though there was a slight gap between them, both were keeping their class leads, and this stood until the pit window.

While the No. 120 had no opposition around them, the No. 04 saw the No. 38 ST Racing BMW come closer after overtaking the No. 08 DXDT Mercedes after a mistake, and the order wasn’t changed until they come to the finish line.

The No. 120 Wright Porsche had the whole Pro-Am Cup podium in between it and the second in class No. 28 Turner BMW and the third placed No. 93 Racers Edge Acura, so Adam Adelson’s job was to bring the car home, which he delivered really well.
