Assetto Corsa Competizione meets the Nordschleife

It used to be a recurring question back about when KUNOS Simulazioni would include the full Nürburgring Nordschleife complex into Assetto Corsa Competizione, and with the reason from the fans being simply just because, given how famous the track is, becoming a running gag between those who had the energy to explain the licensing intricacies that impeded it, but the Italian developer chose the first day of April to prove how serious they were about once the pieces were put together by releasing the Nürburgring 24hr DLC to the sim racing title.

Yes, the DLC is made of only one track and nothing else, but the 25 km of tarmac from the combination of the GP-Strecke and the Nordschleife were the most eagerly waited piece of virtual content by the fans of the title, which had to wait for a decision announced during the 2023 SRO Press Conference at Spa-Francorchamps to see the table been surprisingly turned in their favor.

At the moment of the press conference, it was known that KUNOS Simulazioni would bring the GT2 class to ACC, being properly announced as it also involved the inclusion of Maserati returning to the GT scene, but all attentions turned to what SRO supremo Stéphane Ratel had to say with the head of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring Walter Hornung, as the famous race was included in the 2024 Intercontinental GT Challenge calendar, and to add more spice to this, it will be part of 48 hour marathon in June as the 24 Hours of Spa will close the month that Nürburgring will open.

With Assetto Corsa Competizione being tied to the SRO portfolio, the inclusion of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring to the IGTC calendar opened a new avenue for KUNOS Simulazioni, and with the demand for the track being there, it changed the studio’s approach to release it first and possibly include the 2024 IGTC content later, especially as the N24 full entry list isn’t announced yet, in special with another project coming on the way this year and KUNOS’ history of focusing efforts on a single game at a time.

The ACC representation of the Nordschleife counted with the expertise of Misha Charoudin, and having the input of someone who drives at between the Eifel forest day by day allowed it to be the best recreation of the circuit, going down to the latest repavement of the circuit, the historical details that appear on the track and the side objects that make the atmosphere for the event.

Alongside the Nürburgring 24h DLC, ACC hit version 1.10, which is representative because of the adjusts in damper physics, balancing of the GT2 class and tweaks in AI logic.
