ESMotorsport reveals Škoda Fabia RX1e

Those keeping a good watch on what's happening in the FIA World Rallycross Championship knew that ESMotorsport was working to return to the competition, and the next step was given by completing and presenting the newest machine of the RX1e spec - the Škoda Fabia RX1e.

The team led by Ernestas Staponkus has been developing the electric variation of a Fabia rallycross car from quite a long time, probably as much as Special ONE Racing invested in their Lancia Delta Evo-e, but this was split with some competitive time in supercar rallycross with their old Fabia EVOs in selected competitions and sportscar racing in the Baltic Endurance Championship and at the Aurum 1006 km at Palanga, as the team became a Mercedes customer team with an AMG GT3.

The car based in the Mk 4 Fabia actually was intended to be available for competition in 2022, either being fielded by the team or by customers, but could only deliver it now, and while the model coincides with the base RX1e Fabia that KREISEL Electric used to demonstrate and test the RX1e powertrain kit, a totally different thing is expected from what had the hands of Blue Engineering, ORECA and Reiger.

ESMotorsport will rejoin the World RX after having lived the highs and the lows of the top level of rallycross, from podiums with Kevin Abbring that proved the worth of the internal combustion car to rounds missing that resulted in a very troublesome end of campaign back then. When ESMotorsport aligned two cars for the Euro RX1 in 2021, it looked a totally different team, with a last hour call for Andreas Bakkerud paying dividends with the title along with frontrunning performances from Janis Baumanis.

According to Staponkus himself, the next step for the team is to find a high caliber driver to guide the car to top level performances right from the go, as ESMotorsport initially joins Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS, Hansen World RX Team, Construction Equipment Dealer Team and Allinkl.com Münnich Motorsport.
