Hansen calls O'Donovan to form power trio at Hong Kong

A long lost tradition of the FIA World Rallycross Championship is returning in the season finale at Hong Kong, with the last round being generally used to bring youngsters to the top level, and rising star Patrick O'Donovan received the call to join Hansen World RX Team.

O'Donovan will join Timmy and Kevin Hansen to have three Zeroid X1s, with the last time that Hansen WRXT had three cars in the World RX dating back from 2018 when Sébastien Loeb was onboard.

After conquering the 5 Nations British RX title, O'Donovan has split his commitments into Euro RX1 and FIA RX2e, with two seasons spent in the last step to World RX with two wins, while in 2023 he was a contender for the Euro RX1 title, finishing third in the standings with a win at Höljes.

Add to this the fact he received #YellowSquad support during his campaigns with Team RX Racing and Hansen WRXT has the perfect candidate to call for what will be a crucial finale for the team, as Timmy Hansen needs an absurd combination of results to at least stay alive in the title race in the second round of the double header.

Hansen WRXT is the second team to make use of three drivers, as Volkswagen Dealer Team BAUHAUS had Gustav Bergström in a third Volkswagen Polo RX1e with Johan Kristofferson and Ole Christian Veiby, but the team decided to go with only two drivers once the break ended and the overseas rounds began.

The Hong Kong RX double header will be held on 10 and 11 November.
