K-PAX beats Rutronik in ESports GT Pro race at Nürburgring

Sandy Mitchell had to do his finest drive in the No. 6 K-PAX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 to win the penultimate race of the FANATEC ESports GT Pro series held at Nürburgring, as Laurin Heinrich put himself and his No. 96 Rutronik Porsche 992 GT3R in the best position to win the 2023 title by staying on the chase of the Friday (28) winner.

Once the green flag was waved, Sandy Mitchell was lucky enough to keep the No. 6 K-PAX Lamborghini unscathed as the brake to the first corner made a few victims at the top of the pile, with more contacts following suit until halfway into the first lap.

Laurin Heinrich in the No. 96 Rutronik Porsche tried to push as hard as possible to get a lead battle, but even though there was only three seconds between him and Mitchell, the No. 6 was flawless, even during the pit window. Near the end, Heinrich ran out of steam and the gap to Mitchell was stretching more and more, eventually conceding victory to the No. 6 K-PAX Lamborghini as the third placed No. 54 Dinamic Porsche was too far behind to be a threat to the No. 96.

ESports GT Pro - Nürburgring race results

While Charlie Fagg held the No. 5 Optimum McLaren in front, missing the pit window cost him the Gold Cup win, which was handed to the No. 30 WRT BMW as Callum Williams drove it back from the bottom after being spun around on Lap 1.

For Cesar Gazeau, the race was slightly more comfortable to win in the Silver Cup with the No. 10 Boutsen VDS Audi as the No. 90 Madpanda Mercedes got stuck in the middle of Gold Cup matters and eventually lost ground after being held up.

Laurin Heinrich leads the Pro Cup with 13 points against 9 of Sandy Mitchell, Ayhançan Güven sitting in third with 8 points. Callum Williams is the Gold Cup leader with 16 points against 14 of Marius Zug. The Silver Cup also has a three way title battle as Cesar Gazeau leads with 15 points and has Alexey Nesov trailing him with 13 points, while Alex Aka is the dark horse in third with 10 points.

Everything will be decided during the final GTWC Europe Endurance Cup finale at Barcelona on 30 September.
