Belevskiy gets win in Sunday event of the Kouvola weekend

RallyX Nordic
ended the weekend in Finland with a win for Yury Belevskiy as he was able to extract everything out of his Audi S1 EKS RX and his opponents hit trouble in a moment or another, like the disastrous blunder that eliminated both Olsbergs MSE entries.

Yury Belevskiy recovered from the abysmal Saturday and topped the Qualifying on Sunday, even though his form took a bit of a drop over the sessions. Jere Kalliokoski had a close second as his form was quite similar to Belevskiy’s, while Kevin Eriksson kept the consistency to be third with Juha Rytkönen hitting highs and lows to be fourth.

Semifinal 1 had Belevskiy on pole and an Olsbergs MSE knockout as Kevin Eriksson crashed into Oliver, opening the way for Jonne Ollikainen to be in a Final spot with Viktor Vranckx. Belevskiy secured the win with ease as Ollikainen was busy with Vranckx on his back bumper, and the Mercedes A45 AMG RX did the job to hold the Olsbergs MSE RX2e machine.

The second one had a Finnish front row with Kalliokoski and Rytkönen but they suffered a Swedish invasion as Mats Öhman and Peter Hedström pierced between the two, at least until Öhman’s Audi S1 EKS RX gave in, leaving Hedström alone in front. Rytkönen tried to apply some pressure but Hedström was simply on fire until the finish, with Kalliokoski saving a third place after outpacing Maiko Tamm.

The Am Final had Öhman outpacing Ollikainen before the first corner, leaving the Kalliokoski Motorsport driver to Maiko Tamm, so Ollikainen had to be really protective of his position, even though Öhman was within striking distance. Öhman left the Joker to the final moments to cover both Ollikainen and Tamm, but with Tamm stopped in the Joker Lap line and Vranckx bumping out Ollikainen to a double halt, Öhman had no opposition to complete the weekend sweep, with Vranckx recovering to be second and Edijs Oss completing the podium.

The main Final saw the main contenders compress themselves in the first corner, with contact taking Rytkönen and Ollikainen out of contention, leaving Belevskiy trying to open a gap to Hedström and Kalliokoski. The job was done for Belevskiy as he left the Joker for last on Lap 4, and with Hedström not having the pace to counter Belevskiy, the Swiss just had to run to the checkered to complete the victorious Sunday.

Despite the major mistake that took out both Olsbergs MSE entries, Kevin Eriksson still leads the table with 150 points against 126 of Belevskiy as Johan Kristoffersson is relegated to third with 104 points but possible dropping further down as the team will focus on the World RX now.
