Racers Edge moves to Pro Cup in GTWC America

After glorious seasons spent in the lower classes of the FANATEC GT World Challenge America grid, Racers Edge Motorsports will do the big leap and appear in the main stage as they will take the Pro Cup stalwarts head on, as they once again will be pursuing overall honors in the American series.

Surely, the team was in the headlines due to their steamrolling 2020 season campaign that saw them conquer the overall title and the Silver Cup title, but this was before the Pro Cup was reinstated back to the series in 2021, which means they will face a totally different animal now, although it won’t be much different to what Mario Farnbacher and Ashton Harrison faced last year, as their Honda NSX GT3 Evo22 would be on the run with the Pro Cup cars depending on strategy and how the races unfolded, although not getting to a point where they would beat the champions from K-PAX Racing.

It was that Pro Cup-like performance that propelled the pair of the No. 93 car to the Pro-Am up title, which makes it the second different class title they lifted in GTWC America, and with their inclusion in the top class, they can add a third class trophy to the collection, which would leave the Am Cup as their void for obvious reasons. Despite the leap in class, only Farnbacher appears with a Gold rating while Harrison is still rated as a Silver, although it is well known that some Silver rated drivers appeared in the Pro Cup in GTWC Europe with satisfactory results.

The 2023 GTWC America calendar starts on 1 April at Sonoma Raceway.
