Emil Frey Racing chooses the Ferrari 296 GT3

Following a tendecy of switching allegiances that is occurring between the GT3 teams, Emil Frey Racing goes to another change of manufacturer ahead of the 2023 season, electing to leave Lamborghini behind to become a Ferrari customer team.

The upcoming season will be the eleventh one in an SRO competition, should the Swiss team opt to stay in the FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe, with the brand new Ferrari 296 GT3 becoming the fifth GT3 model used during the time. The relationship with Lamborghini lasted from 2019 to 2022, and while it was a proven race winner and frontrunner, it never led to overall titles. Curiously, the manufacturer switch comes right when Lamborghini is also releasing a new model, as the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 debuts this year too.

Emil Frey is another squad that enters the clear shakeup into the Lamborghini customer roster, as Iron Lynx curiously got in by leaving Ferrari behind, while title winning squad FFF Racing by ACM had its doors closed at the end of 2022.

Going through Emil Frey Racing’s history, the operation is likely to have two cars at least, with the class distribution or lineups not revealed at the moment.
