GCK Delta Evo-e RX1e set for Nürburgring RX debut

After being announced even before the start of the season but missing leaving the debut date unclear, GCK Motorsport wil finally put the Lancia Delta Evo-e RX1e to compete against the ones from its class in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, with the season ending Nürburgring RX being the event for it.

One example of the in-house built Lancia Delta Evo-e RX1e will be in the competition with Guerlain Chicherit making his return to the World RX after a premature exit with GCK Motorsport in 2020, when a frustrating season made him take the decision of focus immediately on hydrogen powered machinery and electrification, switching focus to the Rally Dakar while keeping a certain relationship with the World RX as one of his companies offers the charging stations and equipment to charge the current RX1e spec cars.

GCK Motorsport started campaigning in World RX after a brief stint from Chicherit at JRM Racing, boasting one of the biggest programs of the competition at the time, with a pair of Prodrive-built GCK Megane R.S. RXs and another pair of FORS-built GCK Clio R.S. RXs. Despite the cars being proved to be good enough to reach Finals and podiums, the persisting problems in both models hindered massively its chances, with suspension failures and lack of power being so constant that the Clios basically went into an early retirement, while the Meganes were passed to other teams or drivers.

According to the team, targets are quite modest for the Nürburgring RX debut due to the fact that they will face a much more experienced opposition that ran the whole season while they were preparing the car, so it’s fair to say this will be more like a competitive test session to see the current limits of the car and areas of improvement for the 2023 season, when the goals can be revised as they will likely start from Round 1.

With the addition of GCK Motorsport’s single entry, the car count for the Nürburgring RX will go to nine, which will be the highest of the season, as it will join the pairs from Hansen World RX Team and CE Dealer Team, the trio from Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS and the single SEAT Ibiza RX1e from AllInkl.com Münnich Motorsport.
