Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS confirms trio for World RX 2022 season

For quite a long time it was known that Kristoffersson Motorsport, or Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS, announced a trio of cars for the 2022 FIA World Rallycross Championship, but aside the four time champion Johan Kristoffersson, further names were only speculation, which ended this Monday (01) with the announced to the remaining drivers of the lineup.

The other two names selected were Ole Christian Veiby and Gustav Bergström, which could be monitored closely by team principal Tommy Kristoffersson and Johan himself. Both have thei fair share of history with KMS, but in different ways and different times.

Veiby is actually returning to rallycross after some years dedicating himself to the WRC ladder, having been a factory driver for Skoda and Hyundai. Before the commitment to rally, Veiby was actually part of the KMS lineup in 2014 and 2015, when the World RX used to race along with the Euro RX instead of separate races, and an Euro RX win in the 2015 helped him to be the third best of the European table that year, while his World RX also impress by never missing a semifinal.

His return to rallycross was this year in RallyX Nordic, but a bit away from Arvika, as he competed with JC Raceteknik in one of their Audi S1s, being the second best of the team in the season behind Sondre Evjen and finishing sixth in the standings. JC Raceteknik also gave him his first competitive opportunity in an electric rallycross car, as he joined Johan Kristoffersson at the Strängnäs round of the Nitro RX season, finishing fifth out of the 11 Group E entries.

For Bergström, the new RX1e will be another degree of learning after stepping into rallycross last year, going from RX2 to the Supercar class this year with KMS, being one of the part-time entries of the team along with Nils Andersson, with a Semifinal participation at the first Kouvola event as his best result, narrowly missing the Final. As it was the case with Kristoffersson, Bergström is a sportscar racer migrating to rallycross, and his RallyX Nordic display showed he is in the right way.

Kristoffersson reunites with the family squad after winning his fourth World title with KYB JC last year, ready to defend his back to back titles he is already a proven rallycross legend, having the record of World RX wins by doing it with a factory team, the family operation and even for another squad with another car than his liked Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar.

Proof that Kristoffersson has been spending his time polishing his skill is that he competed for half of the RallyX Nordic season, entered the Höljes round of the Euro RX and was on the podium of his Nitro RX debut at Strängnäs, which is far from his first experience in electric machinery, given his full time commitment with RXR in Extreme E, albeit the Odyssey21 and the Olsbergs MSE FC1-X won't be exactly close to his RX1e machine.

While the World RX start was reconfirmed to Hell RX on 14 August due to logistics issues related to the new KREISEL RX1e powertrains, there isn’t any hint of what Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS will use for the 2022 World RX season.
