Grönholm becomes RallyX Nordic champion at Strängnäs finale

The fact that Johan Kristoffersson was absent of the RallyX Nordic season finale at Strängnäs wasn’t a reason for Niclas Grönholm to turn the pace down, as the SET Promotion driver pushed for a perfect weekend where the win was an addition to the title he conquered.

Qualifying was a mix of weather conditions for four sessions, with only the Q4 being with dry track in bright sunlight, so most of the time the competitors were all bunched up, except for Niclas Grönholm, who was fast in the wet as he was in the dry, winning three of the four heats in the process.

Semifinal 1 would decide the 2022 season title, and Grönholm staying ahead of Bryntesson before Turn 1 was a massive help, and while Bryntesson kept Grönholm in sight, the pace wasn’t there to challenge the SET Promotion driver, who won with authority and got 11 points ahead of Bryntesson to secure the title before the Final.

Semifinal 2 had Sondre Evjen being followed by Yury Belevskiy while Ole Christian Veiby lost a bit of contact with the top two, though Veiby still had enough pace to not lose position to Elias Svensson, staying near the lead pack and watching his JC Raceteknik team mate win the race as Belevskiy didn’t prepare an attack.

The Final would have no effect in the title race, but it would decide the positions below, but Grönholm was decided to go away with the win and maximum points, shutting the door into Evjen’s face from the start, and not even split tactics for JC Raceteknik would pose a threat to the Finnish driver, who dominated again from lights to flag.
