Here comes the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2

A good number of GT3 manufacturers are choosing to just keep their current models available and bring a bunch of updates to keep it competitive, and Lamborghini is bringing something between this and a new car with the new Huracán GT3 EVO2, presented last Thursday (03).

While the platform is still the same as from when Lamborghini Squadra Corse joined the class, the Huracán GT3 EVO2 is certainly the most aggressive looking of the GT3 trio, being way more relatable with the Huracán Super Trofeo as the Huracán STO will be used as the base model, which is basically a road-going cup car.

The engine noise purists will be happy that the unmistakable V10 that powered the previous two cars will be in the EVO2, but a number of other areas received modifications. Noticeable to the eye, the roof scoop gained more importance in the car, serving as replacement for the side intakes to feed air to the engine, which along with a revised front splitter and diffuser, will provide an extra in the aerodynamic department.

Below the carbon fiber, another smart solution is in the engine, with in-house developed throttle bodies increasing the engine efficiency, and to keep this in control, brakes, traction control and ABS were updated. Safety was increased in the new EVO2, with more rigidity being the focus. Two extra pillars will be in the rear of the roll cage, while the side panels receive a layer of Kevlar in addition to the carbon fiber to minimize the effects of side impacts, and the windows will be fixed in the door panel by a ring of screws, keeping the doors as rigid as possible in one unit.

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 will be available for customers in 2023 in its homologated spec, but while not announced by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the car is allowed to participate in certain events this year in experimental classes. Current EVO chassis can benefit from the EVO2 upgrade kit, also available next year.
