K-PAX starts GTWC America season with win at Sonoma

New year, new season, and K-PAX Racing is still winning on FANATEC GT World Challenge America, with Jordan Pepper and Andrea Caldarelli demonstrating why they carry the No. 1 in their Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo, scoring a demolishing win in the Race 1 at Sonoma Raceway.

After the green flag, the No. 1 K-PAX Lamborghini opened the gap quickly, despite the best efforts of Russel Ward in the No. 33 Winward Mercedes to press the lead. With the No. 1 opening nearly 20 seconds before the 30 minute mark, the No. 33 was already falling in the clutches of the No. 6 US Racetronics Mercedes.

While the Pro Cup was more than settled and the Pro-Am Cup lead battle was close, the Am Cup was the fun of the race as the No. 61 AF Corse Ferrari was leading the No. 23 Triarsi Ferrari with some paint traded and some wheels banging.

With 50 seconds ahead of the No. 33, Andrea Caldarelli could enjoy a more secure approach in the No. 1 K-PAX Lamborghini, specially as he was still lapping faster than the whole field, so his job was just get the checkered flag, which he diligently did.

The Pro-Am Cup battle ended in favor of the No. 45 Wright Porsche over the No. 04 Crowdstrike Mercedes as Jan Heylen not only drove faster than Colin Braun but also knew how to close the door when stuck in traffic. The No. 61 AF Corse Ferrari claimed the Am Cup win after the close battle with the No. 23 Triarsi Ferrari, as the fewer mistakes in Jean Claude Saada’s stint were proven crucial for the triumph.
