Chase Elliott will make Nitro RX debut at The Firm

It didn't take long to convince the second active NASCAR Cup driver to take part of Nitro Rallycross, and considering previous contacts, it wouldn't take much to put Chase Elliott in a rallycross supercar.

His debut will be at the season finale at The Firm in Florida, driving the GoNitro car that was driven to a fourth place finish at Wild Horse Pass  by an equally debutant Kyle Busch, while current Euro RX1 champion and 2019 World RX runner-up Andreas Bakkerud took care of the rest, getting a podium at Glen Helen in the process. While Elliott's entry may look like a result of the talks that the series mastermind Travis Pastrana had with several NASCAR drivers at Martinsville, the driver of the No. 9 stock car was interested in it long before that.

Elliott made his intentions clear on social media during the ERX round, which obviously generated an uproar in the NASCAR and Nitro RX fanbases, with both thinking on ways that Elliott could join in, and contrary to predictions, he steps way outside of his manufacturer ties with Chevrolet, a manufacturer that had only a single car in the US rallycross history. Just like Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott had his fair share of racing out of his specialty this year, with a Prototype class run in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship and a race in the SRX Series adding to his upcoming rallycross commitment.

The Nitro Rallycross season finale at The Firm will be held on 4 and 5 December, with Elliott’s team mates Travis Pastrana and Scott Speed having a shot at the 2021 title.
