Madpanda gets final ESports GT Pro win with Juuso Puhakka

If you want to win, hire a Finn. This is probably one of the most well known sentences in motorsport because of Finnish prowess in loose surfaces, but they are also excellent road racers on real and virtual asphalt, just like Juuso Puhakka did with his win in the FANATEC ESports GT Pro Series finale at Barcelona.

Juuso Puhakka was an unlikely polesitter in the No. 90 MadPanda Mercedes, while his front row company, Nicklas Nielsen, was missing, so that extra space would be pretty useful for the Finnish driver as he kept the lead while Marvin Dienst saw Dries Vanthoor go past for second place in a few corners. While the front runners were pretty clean in their approach, the middle pack was too close for comfort, with some big names like Arthur Rougier, Christian Engelhardt and Ben Barnicoat getting in trouble due to contact.

Sandwiched between Silver Cup entries, Dries Vanthoor just kept his second place instead of going after Puhakka, and managing his race just became a bit easier as 7 seconds separated the No. 32 WRT Audi from the No. 34 Walkenhorst BMW of David Pittard, with Marvin Dienst between them in third overall and second in Silver Cup.

With practically no interferences in his run, Puhakka just had to manage his pace and cross the line to win the race, with Dries Vanthoor coming home second with the Pro Cup win, while Dienst kept his third place overall.

ESports GT Pro Series - Barcelona Race Results

The Pro Cup title holder was already decided before Barcelona as Emil Frey Racing counted with Arthur Rougier’s prowess, so the Silver Cup battle was the only one in the open, and the final win of the season clinched it for MadPanda Motorsport.

The series is set to return with the same model in 2022, following the FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup calendar.
