Kyle Busch joins Nitro RX grid at Wild Horse Pass

A guest entry with extra stars will join the Nitro Rallycross grid when the championship returns at Wild Horse Pass Motorsport Park, as Kyle Busch is confirmed as the newest entry in the debut season of the Nitro Circus competition.

Busch will enter with ZipRecruiter as his main sponsor, and while no further details were given on which machine he will drive, and he won’t be the only convert from stock car racing to rallycross in the entry list, as Subaru has Travis Pastrana and Scott Speed, and Steve Arpin is also a name that came from the NASCAR ranks to rallycross Supercars.

The visit to Phoenix for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver will actually follow a longer stay than the usual, as he will do the NASCAR Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway a weekend before, to then focus solely on what will require a new set of skills for him, adding to his recent GT3 outings with AIM Vasser Sullivan in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship by driving a Lexus RC F GT3, which has around the same power figure as a Nitro RX supercar.

With the new championship attracting more and more viewers around the US and overseas, along with the new fans coming, Busch’s arrival to Nitro RX may spark some extra interest from NASCAR drivers into rallycross. Austin Cindric had a successful spell some years ago, and recently, Chase Elliott appeared curious to have a go on Nitro RX, given his reaction on Instagram. Kyle Larson is also a requested name by the fans, given his dirt track prowess.

The Wild Horse Pass round will be held on 13-14 November and Timmy Hansen and Scott Speed lead the standings with 87 points against the 85 of third placed Kevin Hansen, while Pastrana sits in fourth place with 75 points.
