Rytkönen rejoins World RX with Betomik Racing

After a promising campaign in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, Juha Rytkönen will be back for more this year for another part-time campaign.

The machine of choice this time will be a Ford Fiesta ST RX from Betomik Racing, which had Mikko Ikkonen as a regular Euro RX1 competitor, and while the Barcelona RX will be the first World RX event for Rytkönen with the Fiesta, he knows it pretty well from his efforts in in Rallicross-SM, where he has the 2019 title, and RallyX Nordic, where he is competing in a part-time basis along with his Finland-based commitments.

Rytkönen made a name for himself in the World RX by scoring a runner-up and missing another Final due to a track limit infringement at the Kouvola RX, driving the third Hyundai i20 RX from GRX at the deserved pace, posing a threat to the World RX regulars, including the champion Johan Kristoffersson. The results were so good that Rytkönen was the second best part-timer of the championship last year, losing only to Krisztián Szabó, who’s driving for GRX this year and was sharing the third car with him.

Along with the Barcelona RX, Rytkönen also included the debut of the Nürburgring RX in his schedule, and while he knows that competing while also learning new tracks will be a challenging experience, he is confident on good results if he stays out of trouble, and while he has the Finals as targets, expectations remain as realistic as possible.

The Barcelona RX, which opens the 2021 World RX season, starts on 23-24 July, and the Finn doesn’t discard further entries after the Nürburgring RX.
