Kevin Hansen stays in World RX for 2021

After adding another page in his career outside rallycross in Extreme E with JBXE,
Kevin Hansen is set to go back to his main discipline, keeping his seat with the Hansen World RX Team for the 2021 FIA World Rallycross Championship season.

Despite being currently one of the greatest assets of the family team, the 23 years old Swede had to actually convince Kenneth and Susann Hansen he should be driving one of the team's Peugeot 208 WRX models, especially as the team had names like Sébastien Loeb and Davy Jeanney in the roster when he debuted in World RX at 17 years old.

Being champion in both the RX2 Series and the Euro RX, with the latter being with a 80% winning ratio, was the presentation card he needed to become a World RX driver, and then pair up with team mate and brother Timmy Hansen.

Being a championship contender and then the third best of the World in 2019 was the peak of a constant rise since 2015, and even in a far from ideal 2020 season, his pair of podiums should be worth notice.

Another good point for the young Hansen is his time spent with the 208 WRX compared to other known entries, in special if you consider this is only a chunk of the time that the Hansen WRXT has been tinkering and racing 208s, with or without factory support.

While Kevin is ready and testing with the team ahead of the new season, the occupant of the seat in the second Peugeot 208 WRX remains unknown, although it's hard to raise any doubts over the return of the 2019 World RX champion Timmy Hansen, who is also involved in Extreme E, but in a full time basis.

The 2021 World RX season starts on 23 July at Barcelona, Spain.
