GRX/SET confirms Grönholm and Szabó for 2021 World RX season

The FIA World Rallycross Championship is gaining competitors little by little as time passes, and GRX/SET confirmed its commitment to the competition with the usual pair of Hyundai i20 RX models.

While the cars won't change compared to the wonderful 2019 and 2020 campaigns, the lineup suffered a revision as Niclas Grönholm will have the company of Krisztián Szabó.

Grönholm was recognized by the fans as the moral champion of 2019, as he would've fought for the top if an apendicytis hadn't ruled him out of Spa RX and Silverstone RX, and his 2020 season showed promising pace despite a single podium and win at Kouvola RX.

Repeating the plan of 2020, Grönholm is competing in RallyX Nordic in order to do a proper preparation, and the wins at Höljes and OuluZone against a strong Johan Kristoffersson prove that he is on the right as he is second in the standings.

For Szabó it's more like a return to full time racing after his last gig with EKS in 2019, complemented by a single appearance in 2020 at the Höljes RX and Riga RX with the same GRX/SET, acting as the team's third entry, not passing the semifinals in any of the four occasions.

While GRX itself was always a semifinal contender in 2020, Grönholm was usually their only driver in the finals, a reality that the Finnish team will need to change not only work their way in the drivers table, but also to mount a campaign to win the teams championship.

The 2021 World RX season starts on 23 July at Barcelona, and to the moment six entries are confirmed.
