Abbring returns to World RX with UNKORRUPTED

Another known name is set for the 2021 FIA World Rallycross Championship, as Dutch driver Kevin Abbring comes again with UNKORRUPTED, though in slightly different conditions compared to 2020.

Abbring will jump into a Renault Megane R.S. RX, but he will have FORS Performance doing the program running and support. FORS Performance was responsible for the GCK Clio R.S. RX models, and currently splits its attention between the World championship and the FFSA Rallycross in France.

Abbring is contracted with GCK since his short lived yet impressive adventure with ESMotorsport, being the test driver of the French outfit, but he had his competitive time in 2020 at the Kouvola RX in a GCK Clio R.S RX, in order to solve the lack of competitiveness of the team’s pair of Clio R.S. RX, which never couldn’t be done, making the team take the decision of missing the Barcelona RX and end the season early. With the news that GCK would turn itself to alternative energies in motorsport, thus waiting for the new electric era in World RX, it was a goodbye with a hint of a return.

Abbring will act as something like a link between what’s done now at UNKORRUPTED and the future of GCK, as his competitive duties are a part of his schedule, while helping with development of sustainable race cars, such as the GCK Thunder, which is the firm’s electric Dakar racer before a full move to hydrogen.

The 2021 World RX season will start at Barcelona, Spain, on July 23.
