Combustion and electrics together in RallyX Nordic

Following the tendency started by the FIA World Rallycross Championship, regional and national rallycross championships are adhering to the inclusion of electric machinery in the events, and this will be the case for RallyX Nordic, more specifically in the class once named Supercar.

RX Promotion, promoter of the nordic competition, opted to not lose time to include electric rallycross cars in the bill,  so any FIA approved machines can join the main class of the championship while competing with the proven combustion powered supercars, so the new naming of the class will be Open 4WD. The rallycross EVs can already be entered in the 2021 season, which according to the promoter, secures the championship stability for this year and beyond.

While the World RX will do a total replacement for electrics in 2022, regional and national competitions remain with the cautious approach by allowing both petrol and electricity, with the British RX welcoming STARD's Projekt E cars to the grid, filling their void left once the World RX support series ended its 2020 season, the only one in its history.

During the Nysum double header that opened the RallyX Nordic season, the Olsbergs-built and QEV-powered RX2e machine made a solo demo run in the same conditions of a qualifying heat, staying just 5 seconds of the best Supercar time of the weekend, which is impressive for what will be the electric second tier of the rallycross ladder.

The entry list for the Höljes double header, set for 15 and 16 already reflects the change, with STARD owner Manfred Stohl appearing in it with a Ford Fiesta ERX, the first electric rallycross car built by the Austrian firm that competed officially.
