Johan Kristoffersson will be a RallyX Nordic attraction

Johan Kristoffersson
has nothing much left to prove in the rallycross world, having three titles in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, being two of them as a factory driver and one as a privateer, and also a strong run in his partial campaign in the 2020 RallyX Nordic season, to where the Swedish driver will return in 2021.

The setup will be no different than what Kristoffersson had last year, with his trusted Volkswagen Polo GTi RX being run by the family team Kristoffersson Motorsport, aiming for a full season after the season start at Nysum, in Denmark, as no plans are certain for a full time effort at the moment, and while the Danish venue will be a new sight for Kristoffersson, his wins at Höljes and Arvika back up his status as favorite, specially as those results were followed by a quite dominant run in World RX, with another win at Höljes and another three at the double headers of Kouvola, Riga and Barcelona.

What helps Kristoffersson in case he secures a full RallyX Nordic season run is that the championship doesn’t have any date clashes with his Extreme E commitments with RXR, as he is the first winner of the competition with Molly Taylor, and subsequently the current standings leader.

While there’s no sign of a return to World RX, should Kristoffersson consider defending his crown, the renewed World championship also has no clashes with his confirmed efforts, although Johan explained that he is waiting for the inclusion of electric cars in rallycross, which will assume the RX1 class in World RX in place of the current internal combustion Supercars, following a change that already happened at junior level, with the RX2e Championship replacing the Olsbergs-built RX2 Series.

The 2021 RallyX Nordic will start with a double header at Nysum on 1 & 2 May.
