K-PAX conquers Sonoma Race 1 with a Lamborghini 1-2

Domination defines the race that the pair of K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evos had in the opening race of the 2021 FANATEC GT World Challenge America season at Sonoma Raceway, with the No. 3 of Andrea Caldarelli and Jordan Pepper emerging victorious from lights to flag in the new phase of the team after parting ways with Bentley.

The all K-PAX front row was soon a pair of Lamborghinis disappearing in front with the No. 3 leading the No. 6, while DXDT Racing had early troubles with an intra-team contact between the Mercedes Nos. 04 and 19.

The K-PAX Lamborghinis had a massive advantage over the No. 33 Winward Mercedes, but a few minutes after the pit window, the No. 77 Compass Acura crashed and brought the Safety Car into the circuit, nullifying all the advantage acquired over time. Traffic played a part in the return of the green flag, so the No. 6 K-PAX Lamborghini couldn’t get near the No. 3 car, but neither the No. 96 Turner BMW could from third place.

With the No. 96 Turner BMW being hit in the middle of the traffic and forced to a moderate stop, there was no resistance to attack the dominant K-PAX Lamborghinis as the Pro-Am Cup leader, the No. 20 Wright Porsche, emerged to third overall but was a lap behind.  The final moments were of the No. 3 K-PAX Lamborghini cruising to the finish line after what was a flawless run, with the sister No. 6 Lamborghini coming home second, and the No. 20 Wright Porsche coming in third overall to conquer the Pro-Am Cup.
