Emil Frey expands to a triple program in GTWC Europe

You never have too many cars in action for your team, and Emil Frey Racing is proving this by aligning three examples of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo for the 2021 FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe, with barely no changes in their current lineup along with new additions.

The trio of Lamborghinis will compete in the full season, with the usual pair of Pro Cup entries welcoming a new Silver Cup entry, which is a return of the Swiss team to the class, as they last competed in it full time when they still had their Jaguar XK G3 active. While most of the names remain from the last season, there were just a few lineup revisions for 2021.

The No. 14 Silver Cup car will feature a full-Swiss lineup, with Alex Fontana reuniting with Emil Frey along with Ricardo Feller for the Sprint Cup, while Rolf Ineichen joins them for the Endurance Cup. The No. 163 Pro Cup can be considered their primary lineup as the strongest names are all in this car, with Lamborghini factory driver Albert Costa Balboa joining Norbert Siedler for the Sprint Cup, while the Endurance Cup third driver will be the Italian Giacomo Altoè. Altoè e Costa are responsible for bringing smiles to the Emil Frey garage, as they scored a pair of Sprint Cup wins last year.

The brand new thing at Emil Frey Racing comes in the No. 114 Pro Cup car, as F2 racer Jack Aitken, a two-time podium finisher in 2020, diverts from the ladder to F1 to jump into GT racing, having Konsta Lappalainen, changing to GT racing after appearing in F4 and F-Regional, for the Sprint Cup, while the Endurance Cup third driver will be Arthur Rougier, who recently moved to GT racing and will jump from the Pro-Am Cup entry from Saintéloc Racing.

The 2021 FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe will start on 16 April at Monza with the traditional three hour Endurance Cup race. It’s known that the Sprint Cup round at Brands Hatch will suffer a date change due to the situation regarding the COVID-19 in the UK, but the exact date is still to be confirmed.
