Brands Hatch GTWC Europe round moved to August

Amid some late confirmations regarding dates in the FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe, the 2021 season schedule is in place, as the Brands Hatch round finally received its new date.

Brands Hatch now appears as the seventh round of the overall GT World Challenge Europe calendar, as well as the fourth and penultimate round of the Sprint Cup, slotted just after the 24 Hours of Spa on 28 & 29 August.

The original idea was to open the Sprint Cup calendar at the Kent based venue in May, right after the Endurance Cup opener at Monza, but changes in the United Kingdom's policy regarding the COVID-19 control and vaccination gave hope for SRO to hold the event with spectators on site, which is currently the first one in the GT World Challenge Europe calendar to have this possibility.

The date set by SRO also gives plenty of room to change the plans if needed, as the roadmap established by the UK parliament predicts that all four stages of the plan will be concluded in July, though these milestones may be changed according to how favorable or not the situation is in the country.

With the Brands Hatch date moved, Magny-Cours will open the Sprint Cup as previously announced by SRO, on 8 & 9 May, leaving the 16 April event at Monza as the only one in the fourth month of the year.
