Tander and Shahin align Jamec Audi in GTWC Australia

The entry list of the 2021 FANATEC GT World Challenge Australia keeps getting heavyweight names as the latest news come from Jamec Racing.

The team will count with support from Melbourne Performance Centre to align an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo with the No. 777 in the Pro-Am Cup, with The Bend Motorsport Park owner Yasser Shahin pairing with Supercars ace Garth Tander, which sees track rivals uniting their goals.

Tander has a long time link with Jamec and MPC in both GT and touring car racing due to Australian GT, Bathurst 12 Hour and TCR Australia gigs, whil Shahin drove for different teams in both Australian GT and the Audi R8 LMS Cup, with the latter being where he had his relationship with MPC and also where he had his biggest triumph by conquering the 2019 season title.

Jamec Racing and MPC have a long time partnership which also brought a number of triumphs, including two Australian GT titles in the last five seasons, putting the combo in the status of a powerhouse team in Australia and making it a favorite choice for Audi to include factory lineups at the Bathurst 12 Hour.

The fact that the The Bend sponsored  Audi will compete in the Pro-Am Cup gives a big battle from the go, considering that one of Jamec's rivals will be Triple Eight Racing Engineering with Shane van Gisbergen and Prince Jeffri Ibrahim sharing a Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo.

The 2021 FANATEC GT World Challenge Australia season, the first under the SRO management in partnership with ARG, will start on 20 and 21 February at Phillip Island.
