K-PAX trades Bentley for Lamborghini

Bentley
’s decision of stopping the investment in its GT3 program and releasing the factory driver pool in the very near future already had consequences to one team as their main squad in 2020, K-PAX Racing, is moving away from the Crewe machines to get Lamborghinis for 2021, along with a change of plans that will mean a return to home.

The decision was to move away from the three Bentley Continentals to a pair of Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evos, returning to a full effort in the GT World Challenge America, and both entries will enjoy the benefits of the series’ previously announced change of direction regarding its classes, since the two cars will be entered the returning Pro Cup, so the terrain couldn’t be more comfortable for Darren Law’s team. This is the third manufacturer and the fifth GT3 model K-PAX will use, having used the MP4-12C and the 650S from McLaren as well the two generations of the Bentley Continental.

Law explained that Bentley’s decision in canceling the factory support had its weight in the decision of changing machinery, and many options were considered before deciding in favor of the Sant’Agata V10s, which have not only a good presence in the United States but also an impressive track record there to add to its overseas feats.

The 2020 for K-PAX was a reflex of Bentley changing its policy, with M-Sport initially focusing only in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, only to stay in the sidelines from the middle of the year onwards as the focus changed to support the customer base of which K-PAX was part, so the American team moved to Germany to compete in the GT World Challenge Europe, had to incorporate the IGTC midway and its only appearances in American were at the GTWC America kickoff at the Circuit of the Americas and the IGTC Indianapolis 8 Hour, respectively with a Pro-Am lineup and then a Pro Cup car.

Thanks to K-PAX, Lamborghini is returning to GTWC America after missing two seasons since its last appearance, still under the single driver format with DXDT Racing and Dream Racing. Driver lineups are expected to be announced soon, with the season starting on 6 and 7 March at Sonoma.
