GT World Challenge Australia with 2021 calendar confirmed

It wasn’t that many days since SRO announced a partnership with ARG to create the GT World Challenge Australia, which will take over what was the Australian GT until this year, and the moves to confirm a calendar that counts with five events and an endurance round.

The circuit selection isn’t very different from previous years, going for the Australian GT classic venues, which are also some of Australia’s best venues.

The action starts at Phillip Island in late February, which actually turns the Australian series into the first GT World Challenge one to start the season, beating the American series by a few weeks and the European one by two months. Also before the GT World Challenge Europe opener at Monza comes the second round of GT World Challenge Australia, as Bathurst opens April with the GTs joining the Bathurst 6 Hour schedule.

The third round will be at The Bend Motorsports Park, brought to May instead of June as it was the initial plans for 2020, while a fourth round awaits confirmation of the venue. The series will end the sprint race season at the Sandown Motor Raceway in early September, and the full season will end with the Bathurst endurance event that will count with two drivers for a three hour race.

The GT World Challenge Australia calendar rounds now brings the total GTWC list of events to 29 races, with at least two clashes expected as The Bend event will be on the same weekend of the Magny-Cours round of GTWC Europe, and the Sandown weekend will clash with the GTWC Asia round at Shanghai.
