GT World Challenge Europe 2020 arrives in Assetto Corsa Competizione

Just a few days after the champions of the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS were decided, KUNOS Simulazioni released a pack with the entries of the recently ended season, including two new car models, a new track, a new tire model and more.

The DLC called “2020 GT World Challenge Pack” brings all 25 Sprint Cup entries and the 63 Endurance Cup entries that raced at least once this season, with the respective liveries for each round, with the Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo and the Ferarri 488 GT3 Evo being the new machines.

The Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo makes its virtual debut after being introduced in 2019 to competition, with its homologation being confirmed in 2020, when it started campaigning in different fronts. The outstanding characteristic is the heavily revised aero, which gave quite a new look compared to its 2017 predecessor, especially in order to improve radiator cooling and protection, while rear downforce had some attention, while the rest of the changes were to electronics to improve reliability.

In its debut season, the AMG GT3 Evo scored eight wins in the 2020 GTWC Europe season, overall or class, while also getting titles with AKKA-ASP and Madpanda Motorsport.

The Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo came with not so much time since the launch of the base 488 GT3 model, but it was also homologated this year. The 488 GT3 Evo had improvements in the same parts mentioned in the AMG GT3 Evo, with the addition of a long wheelbase in order to leave it more in line with the Ferrari 488 GTE, as interchangeability between the two specs is a highlight from the Maranello manufacturer.

This year the 488 GT3 Evo proved its worth in both sprint and endurance races, ending the season with titles going to AF Corse, SMP Racing and SKY Tempesta Racing.

As for the track, Imola joins the ACC list in what was its debut year in SRO competitions, being brought into the GT World Challenge Europe calendar as a last hour measure due to some of the series’ traditional venues being axed due to concerns regarding COVID-19, so Imola got in as a 3 hour race to open the season, but with Monza and Misano staying in the 2021 calendar, Imola’s participation is likely to remain a single one.

While the track has a relationship with KUNOS Simulazioni due to being in the first Assetto Corsa, the staff from the Italian company made a complete new laserscan and data collection for the ACC version, especially as it is close from their HQ, with travel restrictions being in the way to bring other tracks like Magny-Cours and the renewed layout of Zandvoort.

The new Pirelli DHE tire model was brought in for the 2020 entries in ACC following its introdution in the real series, and in comparison to the models from previous seasons, bringing more feedback and traction and less overheating than the Pirelli DHD2 based five point model introduced late in the ACC roadmap.

Along these inclusions, a list of updates came in the version 1.6.0, including a new AI logic and behavior, and since it covers a handful of areas, here is the version changelog in ACC’s Steam page.

The 2020 GT World Challenge Pack is available for PC initially but it will hit the consoles later, without predicted date, and it costs 8.99 Euros or US$ 8.99 depending where you are.
