Ferratum Team joins Projekt E

Already present in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, Ferratum Team will add another campaign to its 2020 schedule, set to join Projekt E in full time for the remainder of its inaugural season with a Ford Fiesta ERX.

The Finnish team in fact in only continuing an effort that is already rolling, as Ferratum Team was responsible for aligning the Ford Fiesta ERX that Janis Baumanis used at Riga to come home second in his Projekt E debut, and the car is already in possession of the team to get a better understanding and to work on it. Ferratum, the company behind the team, has a fresh link with STARD, the company responsible for building the cars present in Projekt E, and also responsible for the REVelution electric powertrain that moves the cars, regardless of manufacturer.

At the moment, Ferratum Team fielded a Ford Fiesta RX supercar for Jani Paasonen, and while Paasonen is already active and Baumanis has ties with both Ferratum and STARD along with being responsible for the team’s debut in Projekt E, there is a third name that can appear as a prospect, which is Juha Rytkönen. Initially, Rytkönen was announced to drive for Ferratum in World RX at Barcelona because of his strong showing at the Kouvola RX, but the 2019 Rallicross-SM champion also tested the Ford Fiesta ERX, although Ferratum Team is keeping the driver name a secret set to be revealed at a later date.

Ferratum Team’s Projekt E effort will be resumed at the Spa RX weekend on 22 November and will be followed by the season finale at the Nürburgring RX debut on 13 December. The series’ current leader is Natalie Barratt, and Ken Block and Cyril Raymond were the winners of the first two rounds at Höljes and Riga.
