Bentley confirms IGTC representatives

2020 quickly became a year of ups and downs after the start of the pandemic period, and one of these downside news was Bentley Team M-Sport pulling the plug from the whole Intercontinental GT Challenge season, but it wasn’t like Bentley would simply leave the competition altogether, with its customer teams taking the helm of the effort.

The winning trio of the 2020 Bathurst 12 Hour, Jules Gounon, Jordan Pepper and Maxime Soulet, will remain united for the remainder of the season to attempt to defend their lead, as well to conquer the manufacturers title as K-PAX Racing will field a car for them at the Indianapolis 8 Hour and the 24 Hours of Spa, as K-PAX Racing’s current activities are in Europe now but they also have their headquarters in the United States to help in their plan. With no customer teams in South Africa for the Kyalami 9 Hours, Bentley will feature a brief return for M-Sport to contest it.

Along the mentioned entry, further entries from K-PAX, CMR and Parker Racing will be good for IGTC manufacturer points. Initially K-PAX had separated programs in Europe and North America in the respective GT World Challenge series, but the US effort didn’t return after a single weekend, though it was never a secret that the European effort was the priority, as K-PAX was reallocated from North America to take the slot occupied by M-Sport until 2019 as the main Bentley team was expected to focus only in IGTC.

The next IGTC event will be the Indianapolis 8 Hour on 4th October, with some of the GT World Challenge America squads expected to join the IGTC regulars in the SRO debut at the temple of motorsport.
