GT4 class invades Assetto Corsa Competizione

A new option was added to Assetto Corsa Competizione, as KUNOS Simulazioni took more advantage of its deal with SRO and brought the GT4 class in form of its oldest and illustrious competition, the GT4 European Series, but there’s a bit more on it than bringing the minor GT class to the title.

As it was the example with the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS and the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli, bringing the GT4 European Series to Assetto Corsa Competizione meant bringring the specific entries of the series instead of the GT4 class as a whole, but the missing ones in the mix are only a few as the variety of brands is quite extensive.

Considering the season represented is the 2019, 11 cars are available with various teams, with models going from the long-standing Ginetta G55 and the Maserati MC Granturismo to the recent Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Mercedes AMG GT4. In terms of teams, you go from class stalwarts like V8 Racing, Las Moras, PROSport Performance e Ekris Motorsport, to big names in GT racing in general like IMSA Performance and Selleslagh Racing, and even the well known ex-WTCC outfit Borusan Otomotiv. Along the official entries, manufacturer special liveries were brought to some models.

Even though a whole new championship was included, no new circuits come along, with a pretty good reason for it - the GT4 European Series races as a support event of the GT World Challenge Europe events, but it mixes some of the Sprint Cup tracks with the Endurance Cup ones, making up for a more fulfilling experience in the pair of races with one hour each that compose the GT4 event, with a similar ruleset of the GT3 Sprint Cup.

Although in the single player modes the GT3s and GT4s are separated, for the multiplayer modes you can actually have multiclass races with their classes properly designated. In fact, it was already possible to hold multi-spec races as there were GT Cup cars in ACC, but it never received proper polishing and interest. Ah, but don’t worry, you can filter out the multiclass part of it if your preference is single class racing.

At the moment the GT4 Pack is available for PC only, with the console versions receiving it at a later date, and pricing is set at US$ 14.99. Along the new DLC, the update to the version 1.5 was brought with improvements in several areas, with the usual big changelog being on ACC’s Steam page.
