Lohéac RX out of 2020 World RX calendar

The already reduced calendar of the FIA World Rallycross Championship suffered another blow this week, with one of its most important events being axed of the 2020 schedule amid the COVID-19 pandemic concerns, being it the Lohéac RX in France.

The French World RX round was set for September 6th, two weeks after the season start at Höljes, but with the COVID-19 control not improving in France, the immediate option was to axe the event as the organization considered the safety of all the people involved in the event.

The Lohéac RX is by far one of the most popular events in the World RX calendar along with the Höljes RX and Hell RX, drawing in crowds of around 70.000 people with consistency, and while also popular with the spectators, the French event is also a favorite of the drivers, also attracting a number of wildcard entries that put the entry list near of the grid limit, if not on it.

With the date constraints, no alternative was found for the void, which will leave a gap of a whole month between the Höljes RX and the Riga RX, in Latvia. The Swedish venue is still set for August 23rd, although alterations can be brought in.
