Lexus will stay in GT World Challenge Europe with Tech 1

The Lexus RC F GT3 will be seen competing in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS for another season, as a slightly changed Tech 1 Racing will commit to the full season .

Tech 1 took the slot as Lexus representative in GT World Challenge from Emil Frey Racing as the Swiss team moved to Lamborghini, and set for an Am Cup campaign in the Endurance Cup while also having a partial Sprint Cup effort competing for overall honors. The Am Cup effort had a class podium at Silverstone and finished in a modest 9th in the standings, while the overall Sprint Cup one had a top-5 at the Nürburgring Main Race and got the 20th place in the table.

The team went through some changes in the off season, including the departure of former goalkeeper and FFSA GT champion Fabien Barthez, which broke the partnership with ex-F1 Olivier Panis, and the ties being broken, Barthez returned to AKKA-ASP, where he competed when made the transition from the pitch to the race track.

Given what happened, some rearrangements were made in the lineup and Tech 1 jumps from the Am Cup to the Silver Cup, having Aurelién Panis and Thomas Neubauer as the full season drivers and counting with Timothé Buret as the Endurance Cup third driver. The trio has recent GT World Challenge Europe experience, and Neubauer comes in as the defending Silver Cup champion in the Sprint Cup after an impressive 2019 with AKKA-ASP that even had an overall win at Brands Hatch.

The GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS season starts on April 19th with the Endurance Cup event at Monza.
