Jenson Team Rocket RJN switches to McLaren for GT World Challenge Europe

New year and new machinery for Jenson Team Rocket RJN, as the British squad goes for another car change ahead of the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe by AWS, with the choice being the McLaren 720S GT3.

Apparently the single McLaren replacing their Honda NSX GT3 Evo was the only change seen in the team, as it will probably remain in the Silver Cup, in which they failed to score points overall but managed to finish 8th in the class, relying on Philipp Frommenwiler and Matt McMurry for the whole season while rotating drivers in the third seat. Should the consider retaining their lineup from 2019, all their drivers are still Silver-rated according to the 2020 FIA list.

Even though the McLaren 720S GT3 has proven its worth in SRO competition with a podium finish at the Bathurst 12 Hour two weeks ago, thanks to 59Racing, the 720S GT3 is pretty much in unknown territory, as the only GT World Challenge appearance was a Pro-Am Cup effort in Asia by ABSSA Racing, with two class podiums and an 8th place finish, but Jenson Team Rocket RJN will come along Optimum Motorsport in the Pro Cup as the main McLaren powers in the European series.

The factory driver system at McLaren was slightly reworked for 2020, and should the team consider, McLaren Driver Development Program members Jordan Collard and Lewis Proctor are Silver-rated names linked with the factory.

The GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS starts at Monza on April 19th and the lineup for the No. 22 car will be named soon.
