Extra McLaren for Optimum Motorsport in GT World Challenge Europe

British outfit Optimum Motorsport announced a change to McLaren machinery for 2020, which also means the debut of the new 720S GT3 model, but as if one car isn’t enough, they will bring a second one to GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.

The second McLaren won’t be competing for overall honors though, as this one will be in the Pro-Am Cup with all-Australian lineup, as Gold-rated Nick Foster will have the company of the Bronze-rated drivers Martin Berry and Yasser Shahin.

Foster and Shahin come to Optimum Motorsport straight from SRO competition as they were part of the No. 777 Triple Eight Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo, which withdrew from the Bathurst 12 Hour after a massive shunt in the qualifying. As for Berry, he is coming from a season that had him splitting his time between the 24H Series and the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup with Car Collection and Rinaldi Racing.

With this The Bend Motorsport Park-sponsored effort, the McLaren 720S GT3 is practically covering all the bases in GT World Challenge Europe, with only the Am Cup not having at least an example of the model, with Jenson Team Rocket RJN being the representative in the Silver Cup, coming from a year spent with the Honda NSX GT3 Evo.

Despite this being the debut in GT World Challenge Europe, the 720S GT3 has a good mileage in SRO competitions, being seen in GT World Challenge Asia, the Suzuka 10 Hours and the Bathurst 12 Hour, where 59Racing impressed everybody with a podium finish.

The 2020 GT World Challenge Europe season starts at Monza on April 19th.
