Assetto Corsa Competizione now has livery editor, physics improvements and much more

Assetto Corsa Competizione is the sim racing title that keeps on giving in 2019, as not only the players are still getting new features, but it is also getting everything from the KUNOS Simulazioni team, with the update to the 1.2 version bringing a foreground livery editor, chassis flex and brake wear simulation among other things here and there.

The livery editor isn’t exactly that big of a news, as it always existed in the title, but its official implementation means it only got way more user friendly for those not well versed with a Notepad program, as it was a background feature. Basically it is similar to the editor present in DiRT 4’s MyTeam, where you have a certain number of presets you can play with and do your thing. KUNOS staff even mentions that possibilities may vary due to licensing restrictions, though there’s the promise of further updates.

Chassis flex is also a big one in the list, as few simulators do its implementation and it is a very important thing, as it will affect the car’s stance over bumps and kerbs, though overall it made cars more stable in these parts, at the cost of some extra precision needed in the driving line.

Another major thing that can really affect you race is brake wear, as in endurance races, a fading brake can be critical for precision, meaning that this needs further thought like fuel and tires. Most endurance races with more than 6 hours even have a mandatory five minute stop for brake replacement, like the 24 Hours of Spa, occurring a bit past the halfway mark.

For online racing, the safety rating had some tweaks done, where the cleanest drivers will see it go up in a progressive manner, and finishing a race counts even more now, given the fact that it has a Trust Bonus added to the SA rating. The Competition servers are now offered in a booking model, which gives you about 3 races per day, with variations to cover all regions, so no one stays out.

There are also way more updates, like the introduction of extra 24 Hours of Spa liveries, but these can be found in the mammoth changelog published by KUNOS Simulazioni.
