Ligier JSP320 LMP3 presented at Magny Cours

The French circuit of Magny Cours, once the host of awesome Formula 1 battles in the French Grand Prix, is currently what Ligier Automotive can call home, and it was the place where the new Ligier JSP320 was presented, starting a new era in the LMP3 scene.

The class was created to be a good start into Le Mans Prototype racing for gentlemen drivers and youngsters, replacing the LMPC class, and although Ligier Automotive wasn’t the first manufacturer to present a car in the class birth, it played an important part as a leading option with the JS P3, with teams using it inside or outside the road that leads to Le Mans.

Within some limitations from the rules, the JS P320 is an overall improvement compared to the original JS P3, with cooling, aerodynamics and suspension being the key points, especially as the kit needs to accommodate a new Nissan engine that will have about 455 HP, a decent improvement fomr the initial 420 HP of the class.

Following the trend of the Evo kits in the GT3 class, the first new generation LMP3 doesn’t need to be bought as a new car, which would obviously represent a financial burden to teams and drivers. For those who own a JS P3, an evo kit that turns it into a JS P320 is available from around 54.900 to 89.300 Euros, while the new JS P320 will cost 239.000 Euros.

Testing of the new model is already happening and will continue until July, the prospects and deliveries still taking place this year, ahead of the debut in 2020.
